Severe Weather Possible Tonight
Heads up: The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) is outlining most of the core of the state for a slight risk of severe thunderstorms tonight. This means that conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms this evening. Large hail will be the primary threat, but we cannot rule out strong, damaging winds and the possibility of a tornado. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH has now been issued for parts of central and western Oklahoma. Therefore, if your Friday night plans have you outside tonight, please keep an eye on the sky and have a plan should severe weather strike.
Tonight
Showers and thunderstorms are likely tonight across central and eastern Oklahoma, with chances of 60% or greater. The thunderstorm threat will mainly be further south into central and southern Oklahoma, as northern Oklahoma will mainly see showers. Low temperatures tonight will be in the 40s in the panhandle and the 50s elsewhere, with some 60s possible in the southeast.
The Weekend
Oh, the weekend could not get here soon enough, especially when we tell you about those temperatures. First of all, central and eastern Oklahoma will still see some lingering showers and thunderstorms Saturday morning. When those finally move out, skies will be partly to mostly cloudy for the remainder of the day. In the west, we will have mostly sunny skies on Saturday. All of the state will see mostly sunny skies on Sunday. High temperatures on Saturday will become much more spring-like in central and western Oklahoma, as we are looking at the low-to-upper-70s. In the northeast, however, we are still going to see slightly cooler conditions, with highs only topping out in the 60s. But on Sunday, all of Oklahoma will start to feel the spring warmth. Expect the 80s in central and western Oklahoma, and the mid-to-upper-70s in the east.
