More Rain on the Way
Unfortunately, showers and thunderstorms may wash out your Friday plans. A weak cold front will push across the state tonight and tomorrow, bringing with it showers and high temperatures that are up to 10 degrees cooler than they were today, mainly across central and eastern Oklahoma only. Western Oklahoma will remain warm. By the weekend, lingering showers and thunderstorms in the east should move out by Saturday afternoon, and skies will be partly cloudy with spring-like temperatures.
Tonight
For tonight, the greatest chance for rain will be in north central and northeastern Oklahoma, at 60% or greater. All other areas across the state have a 50% chance or less of seeing showers tonight. Due to the increased cloud cover, low temperatures will thankfully not be as cold as they have been the past couple of nights. Low temperatures tonight will be warmest in southwest Oklahoma, dropping to the mid-to-upper-50s. In the rest of the state, we will see the low-to-mid-50s for lows tonight, but some 40s are possible in the panhandle.
Friday
On Friday, the greatest chances for rain will be in central/north-central and eastern Oklahoma, at 60% or greater. In addition to daytime showers, a few thunderstorms are also possible. In fact, keep a close eye on the weather if you live in far southeast and south central Oklahoma, because the Storm Prediction Center has outlined a slight risk for severe thunderstorm development in these areas. With storms firing up in the afternoon, a hail and damaging wind threat may be prominent, and we cannot rule out the possibility of a tornado. To see the latest SPC convective outlooks, click HERE. For the rest of the state, expect a chance for showers and thunderstorms, with chances of 50% or less. Daytime high temperatures will be coolest mainly across central and eastern Oklahoma only. We will only see highs in the mid-50s to low-60s in these areas. Further west, however, you can expect pleasant highs in the mid-to-upper-60s and even the low-to-mid-70s in the panhandle and far southwest.
Friday Night
For Friday night, eastern Oklahoma will see the greatest chance for rain, mainly before midnight. Central Oklahoma will see lingering showers while the rest of the state remains dry with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Low temperatures will be in the low-to-mid-50s in northern Oklahoma, with some 40s in the panhandle, the mid-to-upper-50s in central Oklahoma, and the low-to-mid-60s in southern Oklahoma.
The Weekend
With a minimal chance for showers and thunderstorms remaining in southeast Oklahoma Saturday morning, skies will be partly cloudy across the state on Saturday with high temperatures in the 70s. Skies will further clear by Sunday yielding sunny skies and high temperatures in the mid-to-upper-70s and 80s across the state. This weekend looks to be another pleasant one, so go out and enjoy it!
