UPDATE 12/20/13 5:00 PM: The Ice Storm Warning has been expanded farther southward. A new Freezing Rain Advisory is now in effect across southern and eastern Oklahoma. Updates have been made to the regions as indicated below. We have written the updates in bold and this blue color to stand out.
The cold front has swept across much of the state as of this morning and has brought significantly cooler temperatures along with strong northerly winds. Here are the latest details on what we expect to occur regarding winter weather and thunderstorms in the coming days.

UPDATED! THE PANHANDLE
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY in effect
Tonight brings a slight chance for snow. Lows will be in the low-20s. The greatest chance for wintry precipitation occurs starting in the morning tomorrow, with snow expected. Highs will remain below freezing in the mid-20s, but wind chill values will be in the teens. New snow accumulations will total up to 4 inches. After the precipitation ends Saturday evening, skies will slowly begin to clear and be mostly sunny on Sunday. The low Sunday morning will be in the upper-teens, while the high reaches the mid-30s.

WINTER STORM WARNING in effect
The wintry precipitation will begin tonight after midnight, with a 50 percent chance of freezing rain. Temperatures will drop to the mid-20s. For Saturday, there is an 80 percent chance for wintry precipitation, so be prepared. Highs will remain in the upper-20s to low-30s. Freezing rain will occur in the morning hours, then transition to snow and sleet in the afternoon. While ice accumulations will be minimal, new snow and sleet accumulations could total up to 5 inches. Snow showers will continue through Sunday midnight before ending. Sunday morning brings lows in the low-20s, then highs on Sunday will be in the low-to-mid-30s under mostly sunny skies. Expect another day of cold highs in the low-30s on Monday before finally warming up to the mid-40s on Tuesday. The coldest lows to watch out for will be Monday morning as they drop down to the low-to-mid-teens.

Temperatures are now expected to fall below the freezing mark, supporting freezing rain and ice accumulations. For tonight, as rain falls, temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark or drop a degree or two below the mark, causing ice to develop on bridges and overpasses. New ice accumulation elsewhere will be up to a tenth of an inch, so please take caution when traveling. For Saturday, freezing rain will occur in the morning but then become rain as temperatures rise above freezing to the mid-30s. Rain will end by Saturday evening, then temperatures will fall back below freezing to the mid-to-upper-20s. Skies will only partially clear on Sunday, but highs will be in the low-40s. Monday morning brings lows in the low-20, with highs in the low-40s. On Tuesday, highs in the 50s return.
NORTH CENTRAL OKLAHOMA
ICE STORM WARNING in effect
Freezing rain will begin tonight after midnight as temperatures drop down to the upper-20s. For Saturday, freezing rain will continue through the morning. As currently forecasted, the temperature will rise a degree above freezing Saturday afternoon, causing freezing rain to become rain. However, if this does not happen, freezing rain will continue throughout the day. The rain or freezing rain will transition to a snow and sleet mix in the evening, then all snow after midnight. Temperatures drop down to the low-to-mid-20s Saturday night. A 40 to 50 percent chance of snow exists through the early morning on Sunday, then precipitation will come to an end. While little to no snow accumulation is expected, ice accumulations could total up to a half an inch, so please take extreme caution as you travel! Skies will remain cloudy on Sunday, with temperatures in the low-30s. For Sunday night, skies will partially clear, and lows will drop to the low-teens. On Monday, highs remain below freezing in the low-30s but rebound on Tuesday to the mid-40s under sunny skies.

A 90 percent chance for a steady freezing rain will occur later this evening and through the overnight hours as temperatures are forecasted to drop at or below the freezing mark. Ice accumulation could total up to 0.5 inches in areas north of the metro and 0.3 inches in areas south of the metro. Power outages may occur! For Saturday, freezing rain will occur before noon, then transition to rain in the afternoon with a few rumbles of thunder possible. Temperatures will rise to the mid-to-upper-30s. Little to no ice accumulation will occur throughout the day on Saturday. As temperatures fall back below freezing Saturday evening, expect sleet and snow to mix, with a slight chance of snow after midnight. Lows will drop down to the mid-20s. All precipitation will end early Sunday morning, and snow and sleet accumulations will be minimal. For Sunday, expect partial clearing of skies with temperatures in the mid-30s in the afternoon. On Sunday night, lows drop to the upper-teens and low-20s, with highs on Monday in the mid-30s. Highs on Tuesday rise nearly 10 degrees to the mid-40s.

For tonight, expect thunderstorms with temperatures remaining at or below the freezing mark. Thus, freezing rain will fall and cause ice to develop, hence the issuance of the Freezing Rain Advisory. Please be careful if traveling tonight. On Saturday, expect a 70 percent chance of rain throughout the day, with a few rumbles of thunder possible. Highs will rise to the low-40s. For Saturday night, a slight chance of rain will occur before midnight. Otherwise, all precipitation will come to an end, and skies will partially clear overnight into Sunday. Lows Sunday morning will be in the mid-30s, with highs on Sunday reaching the low-40s. Highs on Monday will reach the mid-40s and the upper-40s on Tuesday.

ICE STORM WARNING in effect
For this evening, periods of freezing rain will occur, becoming a steady freezing rain after midnight. In far northeast Oklahoma, temperatures will not rise above freezing on Saturday, causing periods of freezing rain to continue throughout the day. For the rest of the region, temperatures are forecasted to rise a degree or two above freezing in the afternoon, allowing the freezing rain to transition to rain. However, in the evening on Saturday, temperatures will drop down back below freezing, causing rain to become freezing rain, then sleet, and then snow after midnight. Lows will be in the mid-to-upper-20s Saturday night. All wintry precipitation will end by the early morning on Sunday, with skies remaining cloudy for the remainder of the day. Highs will rise to the mid-30s. Skies will begin to clear Sunday night, with temperatures dropping down to the mid-to-upper-teens. Highs Monday will actually be cooler than on Sunday, with the upper-20s to low-30s expected. However, Tuesday brings much warmer highs in the low-40s with sunny skies expected.

Heavy rain will occur this weekend, especially tonight into Saturday, prompting the Flash Flood Watch. Severe thunderstorms are possible in extreme southeastern Oklahoma on Saturday, while the rest of the region will see periods of rain on Saturday, with a few rumbles of thunder possible. Lows tonight for extreme southeastern Oklahoma drop to the upper-40s, while in the rest of the region they drop to the mid-30s. Saturday's highs in extreme southeastern Oklahoma rise to the low-60s but remain steady in the mid-30s elsewhere. For Saturday night (except for far southeastern Oklahoma), there is a 30 percent chance for freezing rain in the late evening hours as temperatures drop to the upper-20s. The chance for freezing rain will continue through mid-morning Sunday, then a slight chance for sleet exists until noon Sunday before all winter precipitation comes to an end Sunday afternoon. Sunday's highs being in the low-to-upper-40s across the entire region. Skies will clear by Monday, with temperatures rebounding to the upper-40s to low-50s by Tuesday.
