UPDATE: Winter Weather Continues Across Parts of Okla.

Winter weather is creating a huge travel mess Thursday morning as snow, sleet, and freezing rain continue to fall in northwest and northeast Oklahoma. We'll outline what you can expect for the rest of the week from this system by region.

NORTHWEST OKLAHOMA (including the panhandle) will continue to see snow, with areas of freezing fog and freezing drizzle, through the afternoon. Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible, with locally higher amounts in the panhandle. Temperatures will hover anywhere from the mid-20s to the mid-30s across the region. Additionally, strong northerly winds blowing at 10 to 20 miles per hour, with higher gusts, will greatly reduce visibility. WINTER STORM WARNINGS and WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES remain in effect through the evening. By Thursday evening, all precipitation will come to an end, and skies will begin to gradually clear to partly cloudy overnight. This clearing will result in bitterly cold temperatures Friday morning. Expect lows in the low-to-mid-teens across the area, and with northwesterly winds blowing at 10 to 20 mph, wind chill values could be between 0 and 5 degrees! As the day progresses on Friday, skies will be partly cloudy with temperatures in the mid-30s.

After being pounded this morning, there is still a chance of a wintry mix of precipitation (rain, snow, sleet, and freezing rain) in NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA through the afternoon and early evening. WINTER STORM WARNINGS and WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES remain in effect through the afternoon/evening. Ice and snow accumulations should be minimal, however, as temperatures rise to the mid-to-upper-30s. However, winds will blow from the east at around 15 to 20 mph, with gusts at up to 30 mph, so it will feel much colder than it actually is. By Thursday evening, there remains a slight chance of snow in extreme northeast Oklahoma, but skies will begin to gradually clear to partly cloudy Thursday overnight into Friday morning. As is the case with the northwest part of the state, temperatures will be chilly Friday morning. Expect morning lows in the upper-teens/low-20s. On Friday, skies will be mostly cloudy, and temperatures will be in the low-to-mid-30s.

After seeing some snow, sleet, and ice accumulations early Thursday morning, CENTRAL OKLAHOMA will see a slight chance of rain through the mid-afternoon, followed by skies gradually clearing to partly cloudy. High temperatures may vary from the low-to-upper-40s as skies clear. Overnight, skies will be clear to partly cloudy with chilly Friday morning lows in the mid-teens to mid-20s. By Friday afternoon, temperatures will not warm-up considerably in some areas but will still be in the mid-30s to low-40s under mostly sunny skies.

SOUTHWEST OKLAHOMA may see a slight chance of rain showers by mid-afternoon. Otherwise, skies will begin to gradually clear. Temperatures will reach the low-to-mid-50s. Thursday overnight into Friday, skies will be mostly clear with temperatures in the mid-20s. Friday afternoon highs will be in the mid-40s under sunny skies.

SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA may see a slight chance of rain showers by mid-afternoon. Otherwise, skies will gradually clear, and temperatures will reach the upper-50s. Thursday overnight into Friday morning, temperatures will be in the low-30s with clear skies. Friday afternoon high temperatures will reach the mid-to-upper-40s under sunny skies.
