Across Oklahoma expect some chances of rain for the weekend, particularly Sunday, before the state warms up and feels like spring next week.
Tonight, all of Oklahoma will see low temperatures right around 50 with mostly clear skies. Saturday will be slightly warmer than it was today (Friday), and could bring some very small chances of rain across the state. It will rise up into the upper 70's for the entire state, and most of Oklahoma will see partly cloudy skies, with the Panhandle expected to be under thicker cloud cover as the front starts to move in later in the day. There will be practically no chance of precipitation Saturday until later that night, with the central part of the state around OKC seeing about a 10-20% chance of rain, while the Eastern part of the state and the Panhandle will see a slightly greater chance of precipitation at 20-30%. Saturday night, clouds will quickly move into the state, and keep temperatures in the upper 50's overnight.
Sunday will bring the greatest likelihood of rain and thunderstorms throughout the state, particularly later in the afternoon Sunday. It will remain cloudy all day Sunday and into Sunday night, and temperatures will be in the mid to upper 70's throughout the state. There will be chances for precipitation throughout the entire state on Sunday.
Panhandle/Northwest: The panhandle will see a 20-30% chance of rain and thunderstorms early Sunday, and if there is precipitation it will quickly move out of the area. The Northwest will see rain lingering much longer than in the panhandle, with about a 40-50% chance of rain during the day, moving to about a 30-40% chance of rain Sunday night.
Southwest: The Southwest will likely see lower chances for rain than up North, with about a 30-40% chance of rain and thunderstorms during the day and overnight Sunday.
Southeast: The Southeast will not see rain until later in the day Sunday, with only a 10-20% chance of rain during the day. This will increase to a 40% chance of rain late and overnight Sunday.
Northeast: The Northeast and Tulsa area will see the best chance for rain and thunderstorms for Sunday, with the greatest likelihood being later in the day. The rain is expected to stay mostly in the Northern part of Oklahoma, and during the day the Northeast will see about a 40-50% chance of rain. Later Sunday and overnight, this probability will increase to a 50-60% chance of rain, giving this area the best chance of seeing any kind of rainfall.
Central: The OKC area in central Oklahoma will see a 30-40% chance of rain and thunderstorms during the day Sunday, and a 40-50% chance of rain late Sunday and overnight.
Of note: There is a very small chance that some of these storms could become severe on Sunday, but it is a very small chance, and the main threats will be small hail and some strong winds. Most of Oklahoma is under drought conditions, so this front may help clear these issues from certain areas.
Monday will see some lingering rain in the East half of the state, the majority of it remaining in the Northeast. The Southeast will see about a 30% chance of rain and the Northeast will see a 50% chance of precipitation. Any kind of rain will clear out early Monday. Monday will see high in the upper 70's throughout the state, with skies becoming increasingly clear as the day goes on.
Later next week temperatures will continue to rise after the front passes through with temperatures beginning to climb into the low 80's Tuesday, and then continuing into the mid to upper 80's as the week goes on, all with clear and sunny skies. After the front moves through there could be some high winds Tuesday and Wednesday that may bring a fire danger warning to parts of Oklahoma.
After this small front moves through, be sure to enjoy the pleasant weather! From all of us here at the Oklahoma Weather Lab, thanks for reading and have a great weekend!
