Yet Another Cold Front Expected for Weekend

As indicated by the above graphic, there is a central divide in the country's weather conditions.  To the right of the divide the air is relatively moist while to the left, or behind, the divide there is very dry air.  This divide denotes a frontal system moving easterly across the United States.  Oklahoma should expect to experience products of this front as we move into the weekend, including temperature drops and pleasant outdoor conditions.

Currently,  we are experiencing temperatures in the mid-to-lower-80s with light southerly winds. In the panhandle and eastern portions of Oklahoma, winds will be out of the south and southeast between 5-10 mph. Southwestern and south central Oklahoma will be experiencing moderate winds between 15-20 mph out of the south and southwest. Mostly clear skies will be expected into the weekend until the cold front moves through the state of Oklahoma.

Wednesday expect temperatures in central Oklahoma for the morning in the mid to high-60s and temperatures for daytime highs being mid-80s later during the day. Winds will be out of the south at 5-10 mph, and skies will be partly sunny during the day. The panhandle's morning lows will be in the lows-60s and the highs for the day in the mid-to-upper-80s with winds out of the south and southeast at 10-15 mph. Overall temperatures on Friday will remain in the mid-80s with mild to moderate winds out of the south and southeast.

Thursday's temperatures will rise across the state from the upper-80s to the low-90s with winds out of the south to southwest at 15-20 mph. Expect conditions to be mostly sunny and humidity at 50% with an exception to the panhandle where dry air is beginning to move into the state.  Overall state temperatures will rise slightly and winds will increase as the front moves in.

Friday's temperatures will drop to the mid-70s and low-80s with winds out of the south and southwest at 5-10 mph in the early morning. The front will begin to move through the state during the afternoon with a shift in the winds from the west at 20-25 mph. Skies will be partly sunny, but a chance of a strong thunderstorm is possible later in the afternoon. Chances for severe storms increases in the eastern portion of the state.
