The current weather picture shows moderate winds from the northwest. This is thanks to high pressure near the Oklahoma panhandle and a low pressure to the northeast. These two interactions are causing the moderate winds we are experiencing today. We are basically experiencing the "Santa Ana" winds that California experiences from time to time.
Wednesday morning expect low temperatures around 60 in the southern part of Oklahoma, while it will likely be in the mid 50s through most of the state. The exception will be in the panhandle, where the low might reach down as far as 52. Expect the day to progress under mostly clear skies for all of Oklahoma, with highs in the mid to upper 80s for the northern region of the state and exceeding 90 in the southern half of the state. Winds from the south may reach speeds of 15-25 mph in the panhandle, while light to moderate winds of 5-10 mph expected everywhere east of Clinton.
Thursday is expected to continue clear sky cover conditions, similar to Wednesday. The high will likely make a gradual climb, with temperatures reaching up into the 90s throughout the majority of the state. Winds in the panhandle will remain consistent at 15-25 mph from the south, while the rest of the state will experience an increase in southerly winds that will likely match the panhandle at 15-25 mph.
Low relative humidity will help to keep the warmer temperatures from being uncomfortable.
Most of the state will start Friday with low temperatures in the mid 60s. Cloud cover is expected to be light or negligible for most of the day, with the exception of cloud cover in the panhandle. Highs throughout Oklahoma will be mid to upper 80s, again with exception to the panhandle, where the high is only expected to reach into the upper 70s. A line of rain and thunderstorms is expected to develop in the panhandle late in the day, while the body of the state should not see precipitation until Saturday.
The picture above is for Saturday afternoon.
