The current radar picture shows a cluster of showers and thunderstorms across portions of southwestern Oklahoma. The movement of this cluster of storms is to the northeast and we can expect to get a bit of this in Norman later today into tonight.
The rest of the night will feature chances for rain and thunderstorms across most of central Oklahoma. These chances for storms tonight are thanks to a warm front which is almost stationary across southwestern Oklahoma at the current time. These storms are not expected to be severe. However, the threats for heavy rain (which may cause local flooding) and lightning will still be present. The warm front will begin to slide through central Oklahoma with time tonight. Temperatures for tonight will only fall to around 70º tomorrow morning.
Tomorrow will feature a lot of the same as today. We can expect temperatures to rise in the afternoon to around 89º for Norman. Skies for the most part will be partly cloudy, but a few showers and thunderstorms associated with the warm front are still possible during the afternoon hours.
Thursday will start with lows again around 70º to start the day. Skies will be mostly sunny with the temperature topping out at around 93º. Winds will be kind of gusty from the South at 15-20mph. During the late afternoon and early evening hours, clouds will begin to roll in ahead of a strong cold front. This front is slated to arrive late, late Thursday night into early Friday morning. This will bring a chance for thunderstorms across all of central Oklahoma. At this time, severe storms are not expected, but a few isolated strong storms are possible.
Friday will end the week with a very autumn like feel. The morning will start warm in the upper 60s, with rain and thunderstorms a good bet. Due to cloud cover and rain for most of the day, high temperatures will struggle to reach 80º. Which is a nice change to the 90s we have been dealing with for the past few weeks. The rain for Friday should move out mid afternoon with skies clearing by early evening. This will set the stage for a very cool evening with Saturday morning lows potentially bottoming out in the upper 50s.
