Temperatures Warm Up This Weekend, Winter Weather Returns Sunday/Monday

Across most of southern and eastern Oklahoma, skies have cleared today are expected to remain that way through the weekend. Then, yet another cold front moves in from the west, giving us another chance for wintry weather to start off the work week. The system will impact the northwest and panhandle beginning Sunday and move towards the east on Monday. Near-blizzard conditions are possible in northern Oklahoma, with slight accumulations of snow further south. But this may change depending on the exact track of the system.

However, enjoy the mostly sunny and slightly warmer weekend before the winter weather returns. On Saturday, skies will be clear to partly cloudy across the state. High temperatures will be warmest in the southwest, reaching low-to-mid-50s. In most of the rest of the state, we'll see highs in the mid-to-upper-40s. The panhandle and northeast may not get quite as warm as temperatures top out around the low-40s. For Saturday night, skies will be partly cloudy across all of the state. Temperatures will be in the 20s further north and in the low-to-mid-30s for the central and southern part of the state.

Sunday will bring quite a temperature contrast across the state as that cold front begins to move in from the west. In the panhandle, expect a slight chance for snow throughout the day on Sunday. High temperatures, which will likely occur before the afternoon, will be as high as the low-to-mid-30s before dropping into the low-20s Sunday night. For the northwest, expect a slight chance of rain and snow showers in the afternoon with high temperatures varying from the upper-30s in the afternoon to the low-50s. Then, the chance for rain and snow increases Sunday night into Monday morning as temperatures drop to the upper-20s/low-30s.

The extreme north central part of the state will see high temperatures on Sunday no warmer than the upper-40s, with the chance for rain and snow moving in early Monday morning and lasting through Monday night. Sunday night/Monday morning lows will be in the low-30s. For the northeast, high temperatures on Sunday will be warm, reaching the mid-to-upper-50s under partly cloudy skies. Then, on Sunday night, the cold front moves through, first bringing a chance for rain, then a chance for snow Monday afternoon and evening. Lows will be in the mid-to-upper-30s Sunday night.

Across central Oklahoma, temperatures will rise considerably, warming up into the upper-50s to low-60s. Skies will remain clear throughout the day on Sunday. By midnight, expect a chance for rain showers, transitioning to snow showers early Monday morning and lasting through the afternoon. Monday morning lows will be in the low-to-mid-30s. Southern Oklahoma will really be feeling the warmth on Sunday as high temperatures reach the mid-to-upper-60s under sunny skies. By Sunday night, these temperatures will cool down into the upper-30s, with a chance for rain showers through Monday evening. No snow is expected in southern Oklahoma.

We will continue to keep you updated on the next winter storm. For now, enjoy a dry weekend and warmer temperatures.
