Steady Warm-Up This Week
Could this be winter’s last stand? Judging by the forecast for the upcoming week, that thought is possible. Following unseasonably cold highs with strong northerly winds on Sunday, temperatures will warm up some 30 to 40 degrees across all of the state by Friday! So get ready for the arrival of spring, whose “official” start date is right around the corner.
For Monday, high temperatures will remain below normal but will certainly be warmer than what they were today across central and western Oklahoma. Western Oklahoma will see a big leap in highs from today to tomorrow: in some cases, over 20 degrees! For the west, expect highs to reach the mid-to-upper-50s. We may even see some low-60s in the panhandle and southwest. In central Oklahoma, expect the low-to-mid-50s for highs on Monday. In eastern Oklahoma, highs will remain a little cooler and be in the mid-to-upper-40s as the cold front finally exits the state. Skies on Monday will start off cloudy in the east then gradually clear throughout the day. For the rest of the state, expect sunny skies all day. Monday night will still bring chilly temperatures, especially to northern Oklahoma. Expect lows in the low-to-mid-30s in the north and lows in the mid-to-upper-30s in the south. Skies will be mostly clear.
For Tuesday, highs in northern Oklahoma will top off in the mid-to-upper-50s. All across central and southern Oklahoma, you can expect the 60s. Upper-60s and low-70s will be the warmest high temperatures we see across the state on Tuesday, and those will occur in the southwest. Skies will be sunny. On Tuesday night, under mostly clear skies, we will have lows in the low-to-mid-30s across the central and northern part of Oklahoma and lows in the mid-to-upper-30s in the southern part of the state.
On Wednesday, the warm-up starts to happen everywhere as we will see the mid-to-upper-60s for highs in central Oklahoma and the panhandle. In northwest Oklahoma, expect highs in the low-to-mid-60s. In northeast Oklahoma, expect highs in the mid-to-upper-50s. Extreme southwest Oklahoma will enjoy the low-70s on Wednesday. Skies will remain sunny. For Wednesday night, expect lows in the low-to-mid-40s across the state. Skies will be mostly clear.
For Thursday, the warm-up certainly continues with skies continuing to be sunny. Highs will be in the low-to-mid-70s all across Oklahoma. On Thursday night, lows will be in the low-to-mid-50s under mostly clear skies.
Finally, on Friday, the 70s stick around, but do not be surprised to see some low-80s in the southwest. Skies remain sunny.
So…if you are looking forward to spring, do not worry. You will get a taste of the new season by the end of this week.
